The St. Lawrence Lions men’s hockey team will be competing for the RSEQ Provincial Championship for the third straight year.
Last Sunday, the Lions defeated the Lafleche Dragons by the score of 6-4 in the third and decisive game of their semifinal series. Captain William Pelletier scored three goals to lead his team to the victory.
The Lions took charge early in the game dominating their opponents in the first period with 20 shots on net while only allowing 7 for Lafleche. The Lions retreated to the dressing room with a 2-0 after the first period. Lafleche scored early in the second and made the score 2-1, but the Lions responded with three straight goals, increasing their lead to 5-1. The Lions showed a little fatigue halfway through the third, allowing Lafleche to cut the lead to 5-4 with 10 minutes left in the game. But William Pelletier scored his third goal with a little over 10 minutes left to give the Lions a 2-goal lead which they kept for the rest of the game.
The Lions will now play the St-Laurent Patriotes in a best-of-5 final. The first game is set for Friday, 7:30pm at St-Laurent. The second game of the series will be Sunday, April 8th at 7pm at the Complexe sportif multidisciplinaire l'Ancienne-Lorette, 1311 rue des Loisirs Est, L'Ancienne-Lorette, QC. G2E 0A5.
The Lions are undefeated at home during the playoffs, but winless on the road. To bring the home atmosphere on the road, the Lions are organizing a bus for fans to make the trip to St-Laurent Friday night. For more information contact Christian Brosseau at firstname.lastname@example.org
