By analysing and comparing different political ideologies and their visions of freedom, equality and the role of the state, students will acquire a deeper understanding of the fundamental motives behind political behaviour. Students will also analyse how states, political parties and political movements develop and use ideologies to promote their vision of the ideal social, economic and political system. The ideologies studied will include conservatism, liberalism, capitalism, socialism, communism, fascism and their variants, as well as feminism, environmentalism, and the ideological perspectives of liberation movements.
