X-Country Running & Effectiveness

Specific course content examines exercise prescription, race strategy, terrain specific pace and technique, equipment selection, outdoor clothing, shoe selection, hydration and performance nutrition. Students are exposed to both outdoor and indoor training focusing on the development of x-country running for all levels. Students may also take part in a variety of regional races on the intercollegiate circuit during the semester.
Courses will be held in room 135 (fitness center) and at selected running courses within proximity of the college. Students are called upon to evaluate their abilities and attitudes while practicing the physical activity of their choice, to apply and respect the rules and safety guidelines of the physical activity, to set objectives, and to interpret their progress during the course. Students are expected to experience appreciable improvement of the motor skills and attitudes required by the activity.
Course fee: Exempt
Equipment: Students are expected to wear a change of clothes, running shoes and asked to supply their personal towel when using the fitness center.
