Quebec Local Tour Guide

 

 

This 150-hour program allows graduates to obtain the mandatory permit from the City of Québec.

1. Background to Tourism in the Québec City Region

2. Aboriginal Quebec - Yesterday and Today

3. Historical and Socio-political Context – 

  • Early Explorers
  • French and British Régimes
  • Quebec after Confederation

4. Contributory Characteristics of the Region

  • Geography and the St. Lawrence River as Factors in the Historical and Socio-economic Character of the Region
  • Quebec’s Architectural Heritage
  • Quebec’s Religious Heritage
  • Quebec since the Quiet Revolution
  • Aspects of Contemporary Quebec

5. Overview of the Profession of Tour Guide and Introduction to Guiding Techniques

6. Guide Interactions with their Clienteles and others Involved with Tours

7. Professionalism in Tour Guides: Techniques and Practices

8. Organizing Tours and Structuring Tour Circuits and Information for Visitors

9. Presentations and Integrative Activities

Cost: $775

Schedule: Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 18:30 to 21:00 and a few Saturday mornings for visits and practical exercises.

Date:  October 9, 2012 to April 25, 2013.
